The Best Part of Waking Up ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

On most nights I don’t sleep very well. This usually puts me in a notoriously grumpy mood in the mornings (according to some people).

I called this post “The Best Part of Waking Up” because I literally look forward to my morning coffee as I lay down in bed each night. Remember the Folgers coffee commercials from the 1980s? Well, they got their tagline right, but I certainly don’t drink Folgers.

For my second audio assignment, I decided to complete a story only using sounds. In this audio story, you hear a morning alarm going off and the sounds of a man waking up. You can hear the man walk down the stairs, open a cabinet, and start his Keurig coffee maker. I repeated a few of the man’s sleepy/waking up sounds to mimic his impatience waiting for his coffee to brew. When it’s finally done, you can hear him walk to the table, pull out his chair, and down. At last, he takes a sip of his coffee as the cheery sounds of morning birds singing become clear. This is a pretty good representation of how every single morning goes for me.

The instructions for this assignment are the same as for my Cruising Around the Campground post. I started by making a list of al of the sounds needed to create the story and located them on Freesound.org. Below you can see where I imported the sound selections in Soundtrap and edited as needed by shortening clips, duplicating snippets of sounds, and adjusting the timing. I also used a few special effects like fade out to make the sounds flow more naturally.
